Every class becomes two

October 12, 2026 mecanica

The job tree is in. Each character now has a job level on top of the regular level, and earns points to learn skills. At job 40 you pick one of two paths: the Warrior becomes a Knight or a Berserker, the Mage becomes an Elementalist or a Warlock, and so on. That makes ten second jobs.

Why

It was the last big piece of Ragnarok that the design asked for: the feeling that your character was built by you and isn’t the same as your neighbor’s. Two mages at the same level can now play in very different ways.

How it works

The same experience tome fills both bars, the level bar and the job bar. The first job goes up to 50, the second up to 70, and each job level gives one point. A point unlocks a skill, following the tree: Fireball, for example, requires Arcane Missile at level 3 and job 3. Raising a skill from level 2 to 10 takes gold and materials, and the cap depends on the character’s ascension. Each skill level gives 10% more damage or healing and, from the sixth on, reduces the cooldown.

At job 40, the switch to the second job costs gold and materials from the Den, and the first job’s skills stay with you.

The second jobs brought new mechanics. The Knight and the Paladin taunt, and enemies go after them. The Shadow turns stealthy, and enemies stop seeing you. The Berserker and the Assassin go into a rage, the Priest heals the whole group, and the Elementalist has a passive that increases elemental mastery.

The skill bar grew from four slots to six, keys 1 to 6, or touch on mobile.

Next step

Real dungeons, with several rooms and a boss at the end, to put all of this to use.
