The site is born with the devlog
The site came before the sprites. For now it has only a home page and this devlog, but the base is already the one that will carry the rest: game page, gallery, download, English version.
Why
Each devlog entry is a text file in the same repository as the game, next to the code. The site reads those files directly, without copying anything: we write the entry and it becomes a page. We want the least possible friction to publish, because small-project devlogs die of friction.
We chose to generate static pages. No server, no database and no cost, any file host will do, and the site can take a traffic spike without anyone waking up in the middle of the night.
How it works
Each entry has a status. Draft shows up only for us, in development, with an orange badge, and published shows up for everyone. Right now everything is a draft, so the public site shows a home page with the pitch and the line “nothing published yet”. Each entry also lists the commits it covers, and when the repository goes public the hashes will become links to the code. There’s RSS.
The look is minimal: a serif for the text, a dark background with the three test element colors (fire, ice, lightning) as accents, and a hand-made 16-pixel favicon. When the art arrives, the site will follow it.
Next step
Domain and deploy wait until there’s something to publish. Until then the site runs only on the developer’s machine.
Changes
- feat(site): Astro site with landing page and devlog
Static site under site/ reading devlog/*.md as a content collection. Pages: landing, devlog list, entry, RSS. Drafts show only in dev or with SHOW_DRAFTS=1; production hides anything not status: publicado.
